Oratory

oratorioBefore Lope was a priest, there was an oratory in the house, which was renovated in 1614, when the poet began to celebrate mass on a daily basis. This room was located in a preferential spot in the house. When the poet's health suffered, he could, propped up in bed and looking through a small window, follow the service conducted by another priest in the oratory.

In the inventory of the objects in the residence, conducted by Lope in 1627, an alter piece is mentioned, "in the oratory twenty and four images" (today the number has been reduced as that was considered too many), the alter and the table for the items of worship. There are images of San Isidro and the shepherd's adoration.
